Forestry Worker Certification

Issuer
Forestry Association/ Forestry Workforce Training Institute (FWTI)
Description:
The Forest Worker Certificate Program developed to prepare workers for employment in one of the South's most significant forest product manufacturing. Employment opportunities vary greatly and include jobs in logging, forest management, timber procurement, sawmills, plywood mills, pulp and paper mills, and a wide variety of companies that provide goods and services to the forest industry. All of these employment opportunities range in education and skill requirements. The forestry practice and the nature of the forest industry across the United States is regional. The types of forests found in the South, how those forests are managed and the methods used to harvest and process timber are very similar across most states in the southern United States but differ in many respects from other regions. As a result, this curriculum has been developed specifically for application across the South. Although many examples from Alabama used similar forests, management techniques, harvesting operations, and mill operations are in almost every southern state.
